Castejón de Sos

 

Castejón de Sos is located in the northeast of the province of Huesca, it belongs to the Region of Ribagorza, and to the community union of Alto Ésera. Situated at 904 meters of height, it’s the center of the Benasque Valley, where there is the main mountain concentration of the Pyrenees, exceeding 3,000 meters of height: Maladeta-Aneto, Llardana-Posets. Perdiguero, Cotiella, Turbón. The climate is not extreme in winter and is protected from the North winds, maintaining in summer sweet and pleasant temperatures.

Castejón de Sos is the Local Centre of Services: Centre of Health with a Pharmacy guard service 24 hours a day, , Sport Pavilion, Cultural Centre, Swimming pool, Tennis, Bras and Clubs-Picnic and Barbecue area, Children’s Park, Bank Offices, Post Office, Hairdressing salons, Shopping...

Due to its geographical situation, it’s the main local communication centre with other cities and area. It’s a suitable start point to discover other zones in the Pyrenees like: the Ordesa Valley, Pineta, Chistau, Roda de Isábena, Arán Valley, Bohí-Tahull and Aigüestortes... Although it is a small mountain village, ideal to rest, adventure sports are present in Castejón de Sos. Paragliding and Hang Gliding are sport activities which attract the most of visitors due to the spectacular meteorological conditions to practice these sports, or even to know the Benasque Valley from the air, flying in hang glider or small plane. Also, we can practice rafting, downhill of precipices, climbing and any sport related to the nature.

 Located 20 km from the Cerler ski resort and 25km from the Llanos del Hospital cross-country ski resort, it makes of Castejón de Sos an ideal place to come in winter.


Benasque Valley

Benasque valley is located in the middle of the Pyrenees. Hidden by the two highest massif of the Pyrenees: Llardana (Posets, 3369 m) and Maladeta (3404 m) surrounded it at North, and at South it closes the valley: Cotiella (2912 m) and Turbón (2492 m). Ésera river, with source at the foot of the Aneto, flows through these spots, looking for suggestive and wild places.
High mountain lakes, large evergreens and oak forests, birchs and holly trees; grassland and meadows; waterfalls, torrents and some glaciers, compose a high mountain landscape, where is located a great variety of wildlife of the Pyrenees.
Plainly constructions of stone and slate, small villages full of tradition, it has preserved the heritage, and now we can contemplate the churchs and hermitage romanic, strategically located in places where time stops and the enviroment proposes unforgettable experiences.
