History of the Hotel PlazaThe first lines in the history of this hotel in Castejón de Sos, in the Benasque valley, were written in the 40s by grandmother Maria Rosa, in Casa Morancho. As a widow with seven children she managed to raise the family by cooking for others and renting some of the rooms to the few people who, at that time, passed through the valley.Jose Plaza, son of Maria Rosa, along with his wife, Ramoneta, began the refurbishment of these few rented rooms and started the modest pension ‘Fonda Plaza’ where, in its wooden kitchen the pots and pans simmered. In the 60s, home-made flavours and aromas welcomed the cattle dealers, civil servants and also the first holiday-makers attracted by the three thousand peaks of the Benasque valley, French fishermen also came searching for the trout of the Esera river and families seeking the cool summers of the Pyrenees. |
